Informational

Event

Authorities are responding to the discovery of two WWII-era bombs in the Mooskamp area of Dortmund Dec. 1. The devices were discovered during construction work east of Emscherallee in the north-west of the city. Authorities have imposed a 500-meter (0.3-mile) security cordon. Five people have been evacuated and the nearby Tram Museum is closed. Authorities will temporarily close the local road and rail links during the operation.

The railway operator DB states that the following services will be affected:

  • RE3: Dusseldorf to Dortmund

  • RB32: Dortmund to Duisburg

  • S2: Dortmund to Essen.

Roads will be closed and public transport services, normally routed through the area, will be canceled or diverted. Increased traffic congestion is likely in the surrounding area as drivers seek alternative routes. Authorities have not provided an estimate for when the security cordon will be lifted.

Advice

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Check public transport schedules and local traffic conditions for disruptions before travel; plan alternative routes if necessary and allow additional time for travel.
