Ground staff at Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) and Valencia Airport (VLC) are striking at various times through April 1. The purpose of the work stoppages is to demand improved working conditions, more hires, and increased salaries. The strikes are scheduled as follows:

  • MAD: Ground personnel of the Platform Management Service (SDP) are striking on March 27 and 29.

  • VLC: Ground personnel employed by AENA (Aeropuertos Espanoles y Navegacion Aerea), will conduct a series of daily strikes at Valencia Airport (VLC) between 11:00-13:00 March 28-April 1. Participants will gather in front of Terminal 1 for protests during the strike times.

Disruptions are likely to terminal services including baggage claim, check-in, and boarding daily during the strike hours and may linger through the mid-afternoon. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near VLC Terminal 1. Flight disruptions cannot be ruled out.

Allow additional time if traveling via MAD or VLC on impacted days. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling through VLC Terminal 1 between 10:30-13:30 on affected days. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement personnel.
