Protesters blocking traffic between Cipolletti and Neuquen, Argentina, April 17. Disruptions also likely near Chichinales on Route 22.

Warning

Activists affiliated with the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (Union de Trabajadores de la Economia Popular, UTEP) and the Piquetero Front of Rio Negro are gathering along roads between Cipolletti and Neuquen on April 17 to denounce a lack of response from the provincial government on social issues in the area. Organizers plan on blocking key routes, including the Cipolletti-Neuquen Bridge. Protesters are also planning to gather along the Route 22 near Chichinales, Rio Negro Province. The blockades are planned to last until 18:00.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any roadblocks and gatherings in city centers, including in front of government buildings and other popular demonstration sites. Protests will probably remain peaceful, though clashes are possible if police attempt to disperse any gatherings.

Avoid demonstrations as a standard precaution. Confirm appointments. Comply with directives given by authorities. If clashes occur, depart the area. Plan for traffic disruptions.
