Residual disruptions, tight security likely after tankers explode, catch fire at Parviz Khan border crossing in Iraq late Aug. 26.

As of late Aug. 26, increased security and disruptions are likely over the coming hours near the Parviz Khan Border Crossing between Iran and Iraq after several fuel tankers exploded and caught fire on the Iraqi side of the border earlier in the day. Reports indicated that at least 14 tankers reportedly exploded and caught fire in a designated parking area. The blasts and fires resulted in at least one death. Authorities stated that they successfully controlled the fire. The cause of the blaze was not immediately apparent.

Disruptions crossing the border at the Parviz Khan Border Crossing may linger through late Aug. 26 and into the early hours of Aug. 27.

Allow additional time for all crossings, including for freight, at the Parviz Khan crossing. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
