Iran: Two attacks in Tehran June 7

Event

An attack was reported inside Iran’s Parliament in the capital Tehran on the morning of Wednesday, June 7. Three gunmen reportedly entered the Parliament and opened fire. One guard is believed to have been killed and eight civilians were injured. The incident now appears to be under control but the area around the Parliament remains on lockdown as of noon (local time).

Furthermore, four assailants stormed the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran on Wednesday morning. Several people are believed to have been injured and one killed after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives and gunmen opened fire. One of the assailants has been shot dead and one other arrested. Gunfire is still being reported by local sources.

The identity and motivation of the assailants are unknown at the moment.
