Two trains collide in Elandsfontein on June 1, leaving one person dead and 55 people injured; rail disruptions possible June 1-2

Two trains collided on the morning of Thursday, June 1, in Elandsfontein. One person was killed and at least 55 others have reportedly been injured. According to a spokesperson at Metrorail - the commuter rail service operator - services are severely disrupted between Germiston and Kempton Park and all services have been suspended between Pretoria and Germiston. Arrangements to implement replacement shuttle buses are reportedly being made. Residual rail disruptions are possible on June 2.
Context
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
In February, a similar incident occurred at the Rosslyn station in Pretoria; two trains collided, leaving 100 people injured.

Those present in the Elandsfontein region are advised to use alternative means of transportation and to allow for additional time to reach their destinations.
