Ukraine: Evacuations in Kyiv due to bomb threats Oct. 10

Event

A series of anonymous bomb threats triggered evacuations in Kyiv on Monday, October 10. The Vokzalna metro station on the "red" line was evacuated around 20:00 (local time) due to a bomb threat; it has since reopened but residual transportation delays should be expected. Additionally, on Monday morning an anonymous threat led to at least 500 people being evacuated from a hotel in central Kiev. Police found no evidence of a credible threat in either incident.

Context

According to police, as of September 30, 372 false bomb threats have been made in 2017. Police officials have reported that false threats has risen dramatically in recent years, from 205 in 2012 to 857 in 2016.
