Libya: Transportation disruptions due flooding in Tripoli Dec. 20

Heavy rain has caused severe flooding in Tripoli. Several major routes are now impassable - as of Wednesday, December 20 - and heavy traffic congestion is reported in most other areas. Mitiga Airport (MJI) is experiencing power disruptions due to the rain; arrivals continue without major issue but the departures are experiencing disruptions.

Individuals present in Tripoli are advised to monitor local weather reports, allow for extra travel time in affected areas, and adhere to any orders issued by the local authorities. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult - and that floodwater may contain wastewater or chemical products; all items having come into contact with the water should be disinfected and all foodstuffs discarded.
