Germany: Snow and ice weather warnings March 18

A red alert (the highest on a three-tiered scale; major damage and accidents likely) for strong winds, ice, and snow was issued for Goslar, Harz-berg, Mansfeld-Südharz, Nordhausen, and Osterode am Harz. The alert is in effect until 18:00 (local time) on Sunday, March 18. Amber warnings (the second highest on a three-tiered scale) are in place for much of the rest of Germany until Sunday night between 18:00 and 21:00.

Hazardous driving conditions and transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the coming hours and days, with snow forecast to continue through Sunday and possibly into Tuesday.
