Haiti: Strike in Caracol June 21

Strike by workers at the Caracol Industrial Park (Nord-Est department) June 21; associated protests likely, violence possible

The CATH union has called for a strike by workers at the Caracol Industrial Park (Nord-Est department) to take place on Thursday, June 21. Further strikes are also expected to be held June 27-28. Associated protests and roadblocks with the potential to turn violent are possible on the above days, in Caracol and/or in the capital Port-au-Prince. Similar protests held June 11-12 in the capital were forcibly dispersed by police using teargas.

Caracol Industrial Park is home to seven factories.
