Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are expected near the demonstration sites.

Context

Teachers in the public and private education sectors have been protesting for months, some demanding long-term contracts and others calling for higher wages since the adoption of a salary hike for public sector workers that was passed in July 2017.
