In order to deal with the security concerns arising from the current general strike (Bandh) staged by the civil society groups denouncing a recent amendment to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Madhya Pradesh authorities imposed stricter security measures and ad hoc regulations (Section 144 under CrPC) in four districts - Morena, Shivpuri and Bhind, all three in Gwalior-Chambal region (an area that witnessed large-scale violence on April 2 this year during a similar general strike).
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Bihar state, protesters showing sympathy and solidarity with the bandh in Madhya Pradesh, interrupted railway services, stopping trains in Darbhanga, Arrah and Munger's Masudan as part of the 'Bharat Bandh'.
