United States: Wildfire in Placer county (California state) September 5

Event

The North Fire, which ignited on Monday, September 3, in the Tahoe National Forest near Emigrant Gap (Placer county; California state) continues to burn as of Wednesday, September 5. The fire has reportedly burned around 280 hectares (700 acres) and was 10 percent contained as of 19:45 (local time) on Tuesday, September 4. Evacuations are currently underway for nearby campgrounds. The fire has also caused severe congestion along the Interstate 80 (I-80), which connects Sacramento and Reno (Nevada state). The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
