US: More flooding possible in southern Wisconsin September 4-5 /update 1

Event

Southern Wisconsin is forecast to receive more rain from Tuesday, September 4, through Wednesday, September 5, increasing the risk of flash flooding in the area. According to the US National Weather Service (NWS), 5-12 cm (2-5 in) of rainfall are possible in southern Wisconsin beginning Tuesday evening (local time) through Wednesday afternoon. This would exacerbate existing flooding and heavily saturated ground in the state. NWS has issued flash flood warnings in Adams, Crawford, Grant, Juneau, Monroe, Richland, and Vernon counties. In addition, record-high lake levels in the capital Madison have caused flooding in the surrounding areas that may continue for one to two weeks. Additional flooding, infrastructure damage, and transportation disruptions are possible in the coming hours and days.

Southern Wisconsin has experienced record rainfall and damaging floods since mid-August. On August 28, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker declared a state of emergency, allowing state resources to assist with flood relief.
