A sit-in protest is set to take place near the residence of President Jovenel Moïse in the capital Port-au-Prince on Monday, October 1. The residence is situated in the Pèlerin 5 neighborhood, located in the east of the city in the Pétionville area. The demonstration is taking place on the occasion of World Habitat Day to denounce the July 3 demolition of several homes in the area. A heightened security presence is likely and clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out.
