Anti-Uber taxi protest in San José November 26; traffic disruptions likely, violence possible

Taxi drivers are set to hold a protest in the capital San José on Monday, November 26, to demand government regulation of the ride-sharing app Uber. Drivers have announced they will gather at 07:00 (local time) in the Gimnasio Nacional area before moving towards the Aresep offices (Regulatory Authority of Public Services) in Guachipelin, where they plan to hold a sit-in until further notice. Traffic disruptions in the vicinity of the protests are to be anticipated, along with reduced taxi availability. Associated clashes and other violence cannot be ruled out.
