A 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit 132 km (82 mi) east-southeast of Palora (Morona Santiago province) at 05:17 (local time) on Friday, February 22. Details are still emerging. While no related tsunami is expected, aftershocks are possible in the area over the coming hours and days.
