Rescue operations are ongoing in Dhaka’s Banai commercial district as of 12:30 (local time) on Friday, March 29, after a fire broke out at FR Tower on the previous day. As of Friday afternoon, at least 25 fatalities have been confirmed and another 70 people have been injured. The fire was brought under control by the Fire Service by 16:45 on Thursday, March 28. Housing officials announced criminal charges will be filed against the owner of the building and police are launching an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
