Uruguay: Labor union announces strike, demonstration in Montevideo May 22 /update 1

The PIT-CNT labor union has called for a strike and associated march in Montevideo on Wednesday, May 22, over alleged unfair workforce reductions. According to organizers, the strike will take place between 09:00 and 13:00 (local time). An associated march is scheduled between 10:00 to 18:00 from the intersection of Avenue 18 de Julio and Calle Ejido to Plaza Independencia. Associated traffic disruptions and an increased security presence are expected along the march route.
