A crude bomb attack wounded two police officers at Dhaka's Science Laboratory intersection on Saturday evening (local time), August 31. Islamic State (IS) militants reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted the motorcade of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Tajul Islam.

Similar militant attacks targeting security forces and government officials are possible in Bangladesh over the near term.
