Government special forces reportedly raided former President Almazbek Atambayev's compound in Koy Tash, a village outside of Bishkek, at approximately 20:00 (local time) on Wednesday, August 7. Local sources claim security forces opened fire on a group of Atambayev supporters gathered around the compound, leaving at least 10 injured. It is unclear if Atambayev has been arrested; further details are still emerging.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the area.  

Context

Almazbek Atambayev, whose presidential term ended in late 2017, has since been stripped of immunity from prosecution and accused of corruption.
