A 6.0-magnitude earthquake hits northwest of Puerto Rico on September 23; no tsunami warning immediately issued
Event
The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.0-magnitude earthquake off the northwest coast of Puerto Rico at approximately 23:23 (local time) on Monday, September 23. According to initial reports, the quake struck at a depth of 10 km (6 mi) about 62 km (39 mi) north-northwest of San Antonio. No tsunami warning was immediately issued by the authorities and no damages have been reported. At least two aftershocks have been recorded as of 23:51.
Further aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation and prepare for potential aftershocks.
In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g. under a table), move away from the windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is an immediate danger. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, and streetlights.
