The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported that two unidentified projectiles were fired into the East Sea from North Korea at approximately 16:35 (local time) on Thursday, October 31. According to initial reports, the projectiles were launched from South Pyongan province. The launch is North Korea's first in nearly a month and comes amid stalled denuclearization talks between the United States and North Korea.

Similar North Korean launches are possible over the coming days.

North Korea has conducted at least 12 missile tests since May, most recently testing a new submarine-launched ballistic missile on October 2.
