Bangladesh: Cyclone Bulbul leaves seven dead November 10 /update 3

Event

At least seven people were killed and dozens more injured when Cyclone Bulbul struck southwestern Bangladesh early (local time) on Sunday, November 10, before weakening into a tropical depression on Sunday morning. Officials stated that the storm damaged more than 5000 homes and more than 200,000 hectares (494,200 acres) of crop land across the coastal region. Recovery operations are underway as of Sunday evening.

Flight operations reportedly resumed at Barisal Airport (BZL), Chittagong's Shah Amanat International Airport (CGP), Cox's Bazar Airport (CXB), and Jashore Airport (JSR) at 06:00 on Sunday after being briefly suspended due to the storm. 

Wind and heavy rain are expected to ease in the coming days as the storm weakens. Consequent flooding and residual disruptions to business and transportation are possible in the affected areas over the coming days.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm flight reservations, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
