Vietnam: Flooding reported in central provinces November 12 /update 1
Cyclone Nakri causes flooding, power outages in central provinces November 12; residual transportation disruptions and power outages expected
Event
Heavy rain triggered by Cyclone Nakri is forecast to continue through Tuesday, November 12, prompting the evacuation of around 100,000 people in the central provinces. In the Khan Hoa and Dak Lak provinces, heavy rainfall of up to 300 mm (12 in) were recorded between Sunday, November 10, and Monday, November 11, flooding at least 300 houses and causing significant power outages. In the Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and Binh Dinh provinces, rainfall up to 60mm (2 in) is expected to continue through Tuesday.
As of 13:00 (local time) on Tuesday, Nakri was located at approximately 14.3°N 105.2°E and was moving northwest toward Cambodia. Nakri has been downgraded to a tropical depression after making landfall on Sunday night.
Residual transportation disruptions, power outages, and possible flash floods, and landslides are expected in the coming hours and days.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm flight reservations, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
