Vietnam: Typhoon Nakri to make landfall in central provinces November 10

Typhoon Nakri is expected to make landfall in the Quảng Ngãi, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Khánh Hòa provinces on Sunday, November 10. The Typhoon, which is forecast to bring between 200-300 mm (8-12 in) of rain and damaging winds up to 120-130 kph (74-81 mph), is expected to weaken as it moves west towards Cambodia and Laos.

Flooding, landslides, and power outages are possible in the area over the coming days. Associated transportation and business disruptions, including flight delays and cancelations, are possible.

As of 18:45 on Friday, November 8, Nakri was located at approximately 12.7°N 116.7°E  with maximum sustained winds of 115 kph (71 mph).

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm flight reservations, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
