Colombia: Migrants protest COVID-19 restrictions in Bogotá April 29

Venezuelan migrants protest COVID-19 restrictions in Bogotá on April 29; similar demonstrations possible in the near term

Warning

Event

Around 500 Venezuelan migrants disrupted traffic on a motorway in Bogotá on Wednesday, April 29, demanding to leave the country amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions. While there is a limited number of individuals permitted to enter and exit the country each day, an immigration official stated that an agreement has been reached, allowing more buses to cross the border in the coming days.

Similar protests are, however, possible in the coming days as the COVID-19 restrictions remain in place.

Advice

Individuals in Bogotá are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
