At least 30 people were killed on Monday, June 29, after a passenger ferry sank on the Burigana River in the Farashganj area of southern Dhaka. Dozens of others are reported to be missing after the ML Morning Bird, operating a commuter service between the Munshiganj district and Dhaka, capsized following a collision with another vessel at around 09:15 (local time). Rescue and emergency response efforts are reportedly ongoing, but it is currently unclear how many of the approximately 100 people onboard the ferry at the time of the collision remain missing.

Further emergency response operations and associated localized disruptions are likely in the area in the near term.
