Czech Republic: Flooding causes damage and disruption in northeastern region June 8

On Monday, June 8, heavy rain and associated flash flooding caused severe damage in several towns and villages north of the city of Olomouc in the northeastern region of the country. Water up to one meter (3ft) high damaged multiple buildings and vehicles and destroyed a road bridge. Emergency services rescued at least three dozen people from floodwaters and damaged buildings, while one individual was killed and one remains missing.
