Police discovered an explosive-laden vehicle near an oil refinery in Salamanca (Guanajuato state) on Wednesday, June 24. On Thursday, June 25, the Secretary of National Defense, General Luis Cresencio Sandoval, announced that police found at least 12 explosive devices in the vehicle. A heightened security presence has been reported around the refinery since Thursday amid concerns that the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel may be planning an attack against the facility.

A continued heightened security presence and additional police operations are expected in the area over the near term.
