Warning

Event

At least 24 people have been killed after gunmen attacked a drug rehabilitation center in the central Mexican city of Irapuato (Guanajuato state) on Wednesday, July 1. The motive for the attack has yet to be reported. However, the region has seen an increase in gang-related crime in the past month, with another ten people being killed in a similar attack in Irapuato on June 6.

Advice

Individuals in Irapuato are advised to monitor developments, avoid the affected area, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.

Due to violence linked to the presence of various armed groups, some Western governments advise against travel to various parts of the country, notably the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, and Tamaulipas, as well as the northeastern border with the US.
