Unknown gunmen ambush police convoy in Apaseo el Alto (Guanajuato state) on July 3; heightened security presence anticipated

An ambush of State Public Security Forces in Apaso el Alto (Guanajuato state) left at least five police officers killed and two others wounded on Friday, July 3. The officers were traveling on the Apaseo-Jerécuaro highway when their convoy was attacked by unknown gunmen near El Chamizal at around 08:40 (local time).
A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the area in the near term.
