Mexico City police have deployed tear gas to clear pro-abortion demonstrators from marching from the Monument to the Revolution to the Zocalo on Monday, September 28. The participants gathered in commemoration of International Safe Abortion Day and to demand that legislators decriminalize abortions in the country. Multiple arrests have been made after some of the participants threw Molotov cocktails at police.   

A heightened security presence and localized disruptions to transport are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations. Clashes between security forces and protesters are possible.
