Mexico: Journalist killed in Ciudad Juarez (Chihuahua state) on October 29

Event

Mexican journalist Arturo Alba Medina was found shot to death in Ciudad Juarez (Chihuahua state) on Thursday, October 29. The exact details surrounding the incident remain unclear; however, his body was found inside his vehicle shortly after the end of his news program. The identity of those responsible has not yet been confirmed. 

Further violent attacks are likely in Chihuahua state over the near term.

Context

Medina was the host of Telediario on Multimedios Televisión and also served as a spokesperson for the Technical Institute of Ciudad Juarez. Medina has been the sixth journalist killed in Ciudad Juarez since 2000. Roughly half of all murders of journalists worldwide occurred in Mexico, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
