Iraq: Rocket attack targets International Zone in Baghdad Dec. 20

Unidentified assailants fired at least three rockets into Baghdad's International (Green) Zone, Dec. 20. The projectiles reportedly impacted in a residential area near the US Embassy. While the attack caused some property damage, there have been no reports of casualties. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Security forces will almost certainly remain deployed at the scene over the coming hours. Localized disruptions are possible. Additional or similar attacks targeting the US Embassy or the areas around it cannot be ruled out.

Heed the instructions of the security forces. If incoming artillery fire is reported in the general vicinity, stay indoors, away from windows and exterior walls. If possible, move to a ground floor or basement. Maintain contact with your country's diplomatic mission.
