Events will likely occur at the National Convention Center and state buildings, such as the National Assembly and the Presidential Palace. Hundreds to thousands of party members will likely participate in the congress, though events may be smaller than past congresses due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions.
Authorities will almost certainly heighten security measures, including setting up checkpoints, in Vientiane, especially at the program sites. Localized transport disruptions are likely. Business disruptions are possible in areas near events.
