Informational

Event

The Union of Francophone Women of Oceania and the Angry Women Collective plan to protest outside the Government of New Caledonia building, near Port Moselle, in Noumea from 1400 Feb. 17. The activists are demanding that authorities create a government role focused on women's rights. Dozens to a few hundred people are likely to join the demonstration.

Officials will probably increase security as a precaution, as the event will coincide with the formation of a new government. Localized transport disruptions are possible, particularly if a large turnout emerges.

Advice

Exercise caution if operating near the protest site. Plan for localized transport disruptions; allow additional time to reach nearby destinations. Heed all official security instructions.
