A magnitude-5.8 offshore earthquake occurred in the Coral Sea west of Vanuatu at around 1037 VUT March 1. The epicenter was about 90 km (56 miles) west of Port Vila, Shefa Province, central Vanuatu. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout Malampa and Shefa provinces in central Vanuatu.
