A large explosion occurred in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital of Logar, late April 30. The blast killed at least three people and injured seven others; however, unconfirmed reports indicate casualty figures may be in the dozens. The blast was apparently caused by a car bomb. The explosion damaged or destroyed multiple structures, with an unknown number of victims believed to be trapped under rubble. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the incident.

Heightened security, as well as localized business and ground travel disruptions, are likely near the blast site through at least early May 1, as clearance and investigation operations continue.

The incident site is approximately 62 km (39 miles) south-southwest of central Kabul.

Avoid the impact area until given the all-clear by the authorities. Plan for travel delays and business disruptions in nearby communities. Heed all advice of security personnel.
