Unidentified assailants attacked the Anonkoua Koute military camp located in the Abobo neighborhood in northern Abidjan, April 21. Attackers reportedly arrived at the site by car and engaged security personnel at around 01:30. According to security officials, the fighting lasted for about three hours and at least three assailants were killed and one soldier was injured. Security operations are ongoing in the area. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
A heightened security presence is likely in northern Abidjan over the coming hours and possibly days. Authorities may erect roadblocks and security checkpoints, resulting in localized transportation disruptions. Further attacks are possible.
