Protests were reported in northern parts of Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), early April 13. The cause of the unrest is unclear. Disruptions have occurred along portions of the R344, R75, and Addo Road. Protesters have reportedly attacked and torched several vehicles, including trucks and buses, in the area. A tanker vehicle was reportedly hijacked at the Engen refueling station in Motherwell before being set alight. Motorists have been advised by officials to use alternative routes.
