Bahamas: Authorities replace lockdowns with curfews in North and Central Andros and Cat Island as of June 14 /update 36

Event

As of June 14, the government of the Bahamas continues to enforce COVID-19-related curfews and other restrictions; measures vary between the islands.

Enhanced Local Measures
Authorities have lifted a strict lockdown measure that had been in place in the North and Central Andros districts, as well as on Cat Island, and replaced it with less strict curfews. New curfew hours in North and Central Andros run 18:00-05:00; on Cat Island curfew hours are 20:00-05:00. The curfews will remain in force until further notice.

A 22:00-05:00 curfew is also in effect for Nassau and Paradise Island; curfew hours on Grand Bahama Island run 23:00-05:00. In these areas, authorities have banned social gatherings and limited attendance at weddings and funerals (graveside only) to 20 people; receptions and banquets are prohibited. Officials are also enforcing additional health regulations for nonessential businesses, religious establishments, and beach visits; some entertainment and spa facilities remain closed. Indoor dining in Nassau and Paradise Island is limited to fully vaccinated individuals only. Additionally, all unvaccinated individuals utilizing hotels or other accommodations in Nassau and Paradise Island, as well as the Abacos (except Green Turtle Cay, Grand Cay, Man-O-War Cay, and Elbow Cay), must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test or a rapid antigen test to check in and/or use hotel facilities.

Domestic Travel
Individuals must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result for inter-island travel between Nassau/Paradise Island or Grand Bahama Island and other islands. However, those who are fully vaccinated are exempt from this requirement.

International Travel
International travel is permitted, although an entry ban for all vessels and persons arriving from Haiti remains in effect until at least July 11. Travelers unable to provide valid proof of having been fully vaccinated at least two weeks before entry must meet the following entry requirements:

• Those over the age of 10 must present a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no more than five days before travel and apply for a Travel Health Visa.

• Those visiting the country for more than four nights must take a rapid COVID-19 antigen test on day five.

• Proof of insurance covering COVID-19 treatment is required.

All measures are subject to amendment at short notice.
