US Virgin Islands: COVID-19 restrictions in US Virgin Islands remain largely unchanged as of June 19 /update 18
COVID-19 restrictions in effect in US Virgin Islands as of June 19 remain largely unchanged by comparison with those in force in late May.
Event
As of June 19, the COVID-19-related travel restrictions in effect in the US Virgin Islands remain largely unchanged by comparison with those in place during late May. All travelers aged five or over entering the US Virgin Islands must use the online Traveler Screening Portal to upload a negative result from a PCR or antigen COVID-19 test taken no more than five days before arrival, or a positive antibody result received within four months before travel. Failure to obtain clearance from the Traveler Screening Portal will result in denial of entry into the US Virgin Islands.
Travelers are subject to mandatory temperature testing and may need to undergo additional health screening upon arrival. Vaccinated individuals are not exempt from these measures, including the testing requirement. Travelers going from the US Virgin Islands to mainland US are not required to take a COVID-19 test; those returning to the US Virgin Islands from the US are also not required to take a pre-travel test.
The territory remains at the "Safer at Home" level (i.e., the third stage of its five-tier recovery plan). At this level, most nonessential businesses may operate provided they comply with social distancing guidelines; restaurants may remain open with a maximum of six people per table and spacing between tables of 1.2 meters (4 feet). Bars and nightclubs may operate at 50 percent capacity. Authorities have, however, slightly eased some business restrictions. Under new guidelines, patrons may now be seated in bar areas of restaurants and nightclubs; moreover, taxis can operate at 75 percent capacity, rather than the 50 percent cap imposed earlier. The use of facemasks remains mandatory in all commercial establishments. All indoor and outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
Advice
Heed the directives of local authorities. Reconfirm all health-related travel requirements before travel. Confirm appointments in advance.
