Iraq: Explosion reported in Baghdad's Karada District late Aug. 4

An explosion reportedly occurred in the vicinity of Al-Attar Street in Baghdad's Karada District late Aug. 4. Unconfirmed reports indicate the blast was caused by an explosive device placed under a car belonging to security services. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Emergency personnel are at the scene and are investigating the incident.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain increased security in the area as investigations continue. Localized transport disruptions are likely near the scene of the incident through early Aug. 5.
