Event
Tropical Depression 16W is tracking westward in the Philippine Sea as of Aug. 18, following landfall in Guam, the evening of Aug. 17. As of 19:00 ChST Aug. 17, the storm's center of circulation was approximately 113 km (70 miles) west-southwest of Anderson Air Force Base, Guam. 16W is forecast to continue tracking west through Aug. 18, eventually dissipating in the Philippine Sea. Some uncertainty remains in the track and intensity forecast in the coming days.

Hazardous Conditions
The system may continue to bring heavy rainfall and rough seas to the coastal areas of Guam. Sustained heavy rainfall could trigger flooding in low-lying communities near streams, creeks, rivers, and urban areas with easily overwhelmed or a lack of stormwater drainage systems.
Transport
Floodwaters and debris flows could render some bridges or roadways impassable, impacting overland travel in and around affected areas. Disruptions triggered by inclement weather and resultant hazards, such as flooding could persist well after weather conditions have improved.

Use extreme caution in low-lying coastal areas and near streams, creeks, and other waterways due to the high potential for severe flooding and storm surge. Stockpile water, batteries, and other essentials in advance. Seek updated information on road conditions before driving or routing shipments through areas where flooding has occurred.
