Warning

Event

Authorities in Tajikistan are maintaining domestic measures and international entry restrictions imposed to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Travel Restrictions
All arrivals, including fully vaccinated travelers, must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. All travelers must take a second PCR test upon arrival in Tajikistan and self-isolate for three days. Persons testing positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate until they have recovered. Individuals may be placed in a state-run quarantine facility at the discretion of officials.

Limited passenger flights are operating, including connections with China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan. Land borders with Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are closed, though some border crossings with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are open for freight vehicles. Entry from India is prohibited.

Domestic Restrictions
Nonessential businesses, including shopping centers, markets, and restaurants, are operating subject to social distancing mandates. Some hotels are closed due to low demand. Facemasks are mandatory in public places, including in vehicles and on public transport.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
