Several areas of Bishkek are currently without power as of Sept. 20; as a result of routine maintenance. Authorities say that power is scheduled to be restored at around 18:00, though this could be delayed if the maintenance overruns. Similar outages are scheduled in the Chui, Issyk-Kul, and Osh regions on the same day.

Temporary commercial and communications disruptions are likely; cellular and mobile services could be affected. Traffic disruptions and longer driving times are possible due to malfunctioning traffic signals. Trolleybus services could also experience delays and cancelations. The outages could also result in the temporary unavailability of essential services such as ATMs and petrol stations.

Confirm business appointments and allow additional time for essential travel. Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in affected areas. Verify that security systems are working, including after authorities restore power.
