Authorities may deploy additional security forces in Ebonyi State in the vicinity of the Ohaukwu Local Government Area (LGA) after unknown assailants attacked a police station there overnight Oct. 17-18. While officials have not yet officially confirmed the incident, local reports suggest that up to 35 inmates escaped in the incident. Casualty figures associated with the attack and the identity of the attackers remain unclear.
