Informational

Event

Dockworkers represented by the Federation nationale des dockers de Cote d’Ivoire (Fenad-Ci) launched a strike at Abidjan and San Pedro ports Dec. 17-24. The purpose of the strike is to demand better working conditions.

Striking workers could stage protests and pickets outside of port facilities as part of their action. Localized ground transport disruptions are possible in the vicinity of port facilities. Maritime transport disruptions and processing delays could extend for several days after the strike ends as port authorities work to clear any container backlog.

Advice

Allow additional time when routing freight through San Pedro and Abidjan ports during the strike action; consider alternative shipping methods for critical cargoes. Avoid all demonstrations as a routine precaution and to mitigate possible disruption.
