Greece: Multiple Athens metro stations evacuated following bomb threat the afternoon of Dec. 14
Multiple Athens metro stations evacuated following bomb threat the afternoon of Dec. 14; heightened security, transport disruptions likely.
Event
Authorities have evacuated all stations on lines 2 and 3 of the Athens metro system the afternoon of Dec. 14 in response to an anonymous bomb threat against Syntagma and Monastiraki Stations. All services on those lines are currently suspended; services on Line 1 are also disrupted.
Disruptions will continue while police conduct their investigations. Increased demand for alternative transport is likely, leading to possible crowding and reduction in availability. Lingering disruption is likely once services are resumed as transport schedules and passenger flows return to normal.
Advice
Heed all instructions from security services. Reconfirm public transport schedules before beginning journeys and allow extra time for travel. Make alternative transport arrangements if necessary.
